Algebra is a broad and daunting subject for high school students. Often, it will be split up into two sections: Algebra I and Algebra II. While there is no formal distinction between the two sections, Algebra II will expand on the principles established in basic algebra and explore more deeply the relationships between numbers, variables, and polynomials. At this point, a student is expected to be able to solve a simple equation, but now must learn to solve a system of equations. For example, if 3x + 2y = 18 AND xy = 12, a student must be able to solve the equations such that the variables x and y have consistent values that apply to both equations in the set. Such systems can be solved numerically, or with the use of a Cartesian graph. Likewise, students will find graphs useful in solving more advanced equations, such as quadratic equations (those that include a polynomial that is squared, or raised to the power of 2). They will also have to expand their imaginations to work with imaginary number i, which has the property of equalling -1 when squared. x^2 + 1 = 0 is an example of a quadratic equation using an imaginary number, because only the imaginary i will solve the equation! Toward the end of Algebra II, students will comprehend even more complex concepts, such as logarithmic functions, matrices, and probability. You've mastered Algebra I, but you can achieve exponential results by hiring an Algebra II tutor in Brooklyn from Tutorspree.

As a kid, I loved teachers who could explain the same thing several different ways, until you got what they were talking about. I try to be that kind of teacher. The most important skill that a student can learn is how to take the fear out of studying. Break big problems into smaller ones, try to reduce your load until you feel you can get the most...

To start, I am so eager to bring my experiences as a scholar, artist, and teacher to my work with youth. I am impassioned by the belief that education should be an inherently directive and transformative process rooted in dialogue, reflection, and communication and that education can be an equalizer in society. That being said, I know first hand th...

Nothing brightens my day more than helping a student reach that "aHA! i get it!" moment. I teach for comprehension, not memorization or recipes (although I recognize their occasional necessity), and I'm a big believer in teaching by example and demonstration. Throughout my academic career I have tutored many students through college math courses of...
