About Me
I tutor students in grades 4-12 in Reading, Writing, and Math, including students with special needs. I am typically available Wednesday evenings, but please contact me in regards to other times. I prefer to meet at an east-side NY Public Library (Aguilar Library @ 110th, 96th Street Library, or 58th Street Library are best). Other locations can be arranged.
I have been teaching for over four years, and began tutoring seven years ago. I started my work in education as a Teach For America corps member with the belief that every student deserves and excellent education. My work as a tutor is an extension of this belief. I am particularly passionate about supporting students with special needs, as I have been working as a middle and high school special education teacher. I am constantly looking for new, creative ways to engage students in material. In particular, I look toward new technology as a means for opening up the world of educational exploration.
Outside of teaching, I am a dedicated musician who enjoys singing and performing. I use this energy and creativity in all that I do. I also know that building a strong, reliable relationship is such an important part of learning, and hope to get to know you soon!
