About Me

During my study of PhD and MPhil, I taught for different college mathematics courses, both lower and upper division, for about 10 years. Before I entered the PhD program at the University of Southern California, I had my tutoring business for 2 years, tutoring different middle school and high school students. The slogan printed on my business card was "Enlightenment and Enhancement," which shows my teaching philosophy in two ways: I enlighten students by showing them the interesting applications of math, like mathemagic, in which I taught them how to use simple math theory to perform magic; I enhance students by stimulating their critical thinking using particular math problems. To do this, I put effort on designing interesting and fruitful notes, prepare and ensure the smoothness of the flow of each lesson. I find teaching rewarding when a student recognizes the beauty of math, and gains interests and problem solving skills from me.
