About Me
Hi everyone. My name is Joe, and I am interested in tutoring in the fields of computer usage and repair, introductory math and physics (e.g. algebra-precalculus, classical mechanics), and music. I graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, and I have always enjoyed tutoring. For qualifications sake, I majored in music. Though, I enjoy scrapping and rebuilding computers and have been doing it as a hobby for the past 13+ years. I have also completed a few courses dealing with teaching math and science and sat in as a student assistant in many high school lectures. Additionally, I have participated in several disadvantaged youth tutoring programs. I have tutored both friends and family over the past 10 years, and I find that the experience is mutually beneficial. Besides, it is said that the best way to learn a subject is to teach it! I am located close to the Kendall/MIT stop on the Red Line. I am willing to commute to get where I need to go, but I am restricted to public transportation. Normally, I imagine that my tutoring sessions will be held in a local library or school and will probably last anywhere from 1-2 hours. I would prefer if the student had some sort of workbook or guide that they would like to cover, but this is not required. Based upon the subject matter, we can develop a program that can meet on a regular basis (weekly, etc.) or in "chunks" to cover specific parts of the subject. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Drop me an e-mail if you have any questions!
