About Me

Hi, my name is Dennis and I am looking forward to being your tutor! I enjoy teaching and mentoring youth, and have had great experiences as a high school teacher in New York City public schools as well as in private tutoring. As a classroom teacher in Brooklyn, I taught 10th grade Earth Science and Music class. As a private tutor, I worked with students from grades 2-11 in all subjects.

I build guitars and work on pianos; in fact I have taught guitar and piano during tutoring sessions when time permitted. I have been lucky to develop wonderful relationships with my students and their families in the past, and am eager to meet new students in the Sunnyside area!

I am laid back and light-hearted in manner, but am committed to education and strive to develop lasting skills in my students.

I speak fluent Japanese, and have had the pleasure of tutoring newly-immigrated Japanese students in Columbus, OH; I welcome the opportunity to tutor English language learners.
