About Me

I am a SUNY (State University of New York)Binghamton Magna cum Laude graduate in Human Development. I began teaching upon graduation. My first year of teaching was in First Grade. I taught at a classical Christian school that followed the traditional classical method of teaching, namely, the Trivium. I taught all subjects, with heavy focus on reading, spelling, and phonics/language. I wrote songs to help my students memorize the facts required of them as first graders. This allowed me time to go beyond the material of first grade, on to second and third grade material. I had 22 students and no assistant.

My second year of teaching, I taught 6 subjects: 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English literature, with completely different required reading curriculums. I also taught 5th and 6t grade grammar. My students learned every literature term and how to apply the literature lingo (alliteration!) to their novels and literary works. We read Shakespeare among other novels. This school was tailored for gifted and talented students.

I currently tutor English literature and English as a Second Language to a great family in South Jersey. For the right family, I am willing to travel or meet at a public place to tutor. I can also provide my home as our tutoring station. Thank you! Regine
