About Me

I am a firm believer that every child can and will learn. As a well-rounded and experienced career-changer, my decision to become a Teacher was grounded in passion & the genuine belief that I can make a difference in the world... one child at a time! Student-centered & personalized learning remains at the core of my educational philosophy, as I feel it is the responsibility of the educator to determine every child's unique strengths & abilities in order to understand how they learn best ... and then teach them accordingly! Upon graduating Villanova University in 2006 with a B.A. in Communications & Political Science, I spent nearly four years working in NYC as a Senior Associate Recruiter for a retained search firm. In 2010, I parted ways with the business world to pursue my dream of teaching and I haven't looked back! Motivaed, enthusiastic; professional & sharp - I am whole-heartedly committed to reaching every child and in doing such, I have successfully sparked a similar fire & relentless perserverence in my students! Over the course of the past two years, I gained significant experience working as a Teacher Assistant at West Elementary School in Long Beach, NY. Working one-on-one with an amazing student who has Autism fueled my desire and motivation to become the best in my field. I am a dual-certified classroom Teacher in Childhood and Special Education and recently earned my Masters of Science (M.S.) in Childhood & Students with Special Needs from Molloy College. As a tutor, I offer a refreshingly simple, yet creative approach to learning that targets each student as an individual. By means of proper assessment and appropriate research-based learning strategies, My goal as a tutor/educator is to not only broaden each child's breadth of knowledge, but also instill in them a genuine passion for learning as I strive to make learning relevant by bridging lesson content to every day life. Armed with a variety of local references and up-to-date best research practices & deep knowledge of the new Common Core State Standards, I assure you that I will make your child my priority - going above and beyond what it takes to meet their needs & reach success! One-on-one & small group tutoring expereince includes the following: Grades: K - 11 Subjects: SAT/PSAT (al parts), Reading (all skills /Sci & SS) Writing (all skills & Sci/SS) Phonics, Fluency, & Phonemic Awareness Skills: Test Prep (all levels), Studying Habbits, Organization, Classwork & Cognitive (critical thinking) Work Habbits, Self-regulation, etc. Disabiltiies: Dyslexia, Autism, Emotional, Behavior, Learning Disabilities, Oppositional Defiance Enrichment: Gifted & Talented Students, Advanced Students, etc. Please contact me with any questions! Lauren is a wonderful tutor and has many creative and fun methods of teaching. My daughter has fun while she is learning, which makes all the difference. Some of Lauren's ideas have also helped me to reach my daughter and change our study dynamic from purely stressful to relaxed and sometimes, dare I say, fun! She truly loves children and teaching and it shows!

Lauren has been an amazing tutor for all 3 of my children. She is incredibly creative and customizes her lessons for each child's skill set. She has created games that has made learning fun for my 6 year old and made great book recommendations for my 10 year. I could go on and on about the positive learning experience Lauren has provided for my children.
