I have been teaching special education and reading intervention for 2 years at a charter school in Brooklyn. I love that I get to work with small groups and with individual students, targeting their specific needs. I have privately tutored multiple children, ages 6 to 16 over the past 8 years. My masters is in special education and my professional training in literacy development, but I can work with kids across subject areas. Dance and movement is often incorporated into my instruction, as I have danced my whole life. The decision to work with children as a career happened for me after I studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa and had the privilege of mentoring and tutoring at a home for 40 abused and orphaned girls.
