I have been a chemistry and physics high school teacher for eight years now and have truly enjoyed my work in this field. In teaching advanced science courses, I have learned that many students benefit greatly from additional support outside of the classroom in a one on one setting. Students can often be intimidated by such subjects which is why much of my time as a teacher has been dedicated to making these subjects as accessible as possible. This involves breaking down information into its simplest and most digestible components, application to real life scientific contexts as well as enhancing problem solving skills. By the end of the year the vast majority of my students feel confident in science, do exceptionally well on their standardized exams, and many even consider pursuing a career in a scientific field. Getting students to truly understand and appreciate science is a very rewarding experience for me.
