About Me

I am currently a rising junior at New York University, majoring in math and physics, but I also love languages. In 8th grade I began studying Spanish, and by 11th grade I was fluent. I have been studying Mandarin Chinese since my junior year of high school and will continue throughout my college career.

I have tutored many students in Spanish and math with great results for the students! Although I have not yet tutored Mandarin, I am confident that I could be of great help to students at the beginning of their Mandarin study.

Tutoring is all about bringing students a new perspective on the subjects they are struggling with. There's always a way to gain understanding, but we get stuck when we are only taught to see the subject matter in one way. In this way, tutoring is extremely useful. So many students try to memorize the material just to pass the test because of the mental road blocks they encounter. This is especially true when dealing with subjects like mathematics and languages. Sometimes, students just need the opportunity to really understand the material - when a true conceptual understanding is reached memorization is unnecessary!
