About Me
I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago studying Fundamentals (focus in English and Psychology) and Visual Arts. I grew up in Shanghai, China, and attended Shanghai American School, where I first discovered my passion for teaching. I taught English and Art at elementary schools in Shanghai for four years in high school. I also taught IB Art Higher Level at my high school while the teacher was on an extended leave of absence.
My favorite parts of teaching has always been watching my students grow to love a process of learning in spite of the challenges it may present, and seeing the look on their faces when they overcome those challenges. Although I specialize in the fine arts (pencil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic/oil paint) and English (grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension, SAT prep), I am also well-versed in biology, mathematics, and psychology at the AP level, as well as elementary Mandarin Chinese. Working with all kinds of children ranging from the ages of 5-18 has brought me much joy, because the children I taught have not only been my students, but also became my friends. I believe teaching is a learning process for both the teacher and the student, and hope to not only share my knowledge with my students, but also allow them to share their experiences with me.
