About Me
I have been teaching and tutoring for 11 years. I graduated from Yale University in 2007 with a degree in History, after which I joined Teach for America, an elite educational institution that places high quality college graduates in low-performing public schools. I spent the two years of my Teach for America placement teaching English, Social Studies, Business, Engineering, and Special Education at a middle school in the South Bronx, while simultaneously completing my Master's Degree in Teaching at Fordham University on nights and weekends. Last year I left the classroom to pursue a graduate degree in Economics and Education at Columbia University Teachers College. I also work part-time with several high-performing charter schools in Harlem to develop ways to train teachers and promote learning for a diverse group of students. In my free time I enjoy reading fiction, following politics, and rooting forlornly for the Mets.
A massive body of academic and statistical data proves that education is the best pathway to to a healthy, prosperous, productive life. But more importantly, education is FUN! I love to learn and I love to teach - I've been doing both for my entire life, and I can't imagine ever wanting to do anything else. For me, the greatest joy one can experience is seeing the light go on in a student's eyes as he or she climbs to a new realization or insight, and the greatest gift one can give is a great education. My students have seen massive growth in their grades, test scores, and overall academic success as a result of our time together. I can't wait to experience the same success with you!
