Moses Lewis Jr

Staten Island, NY Tutor

About Me

I am interested in tutoring at this time because it will allow me to utilize my lifetime experience and skills in working with individuals and families so that I may impact their lives in a way that fosters growth and self-achievement.

I completed CUNY - College of Staten Island's Secondary Education Program and graduated with a B.A. in History and a minor in African-American Studies. In addition, I hold a 7 - 12 initial certification to teach social studies. I was employed for eight years in the human service field as a Medicaid Service Coordinator; where my responsibilities included, but were not limited to, assisting individuals in achieving obtainable goals related to their vocational and self-care skills. However, I am eager to use the pedagogical talents that I acquired while completing the College of Staten Island's Secondary Education program, including student teaching in the NYC public school system. Under the critical eyes of a passionate and knowledgeable teaching staff, I gained extensive knowledge in classroom management and I have familiarized myself with the variety of resources available to help meet student needs. I substituted at the Lavelle Preparatory Charter School on Staten Island and the experience has nurtured my innate tolerance, patience, and empathy. Moreover, I am prepared to incorporate these skills when communicating with students and familes to develop working relationships that result in student success.
