About Me
I started my teaching career thirteen years ago teaching English as a Second Language in junior high schools in Japan, and I have loved being a teacher ever since. I recently received my Ph.D. in modern Japanese literature from the University of California, Irvine, and I have taught Japanese language and literature at the college level. I have a ton of tutoring experiences, mostly tutoring ESL to adults. I think the most important and most overlooked aspect of teaching is having fun. Students should enjoy coming to class because when students are having fun is when true learning can begin. The best compliment I ever received as a teacher was from an adult student in Japan to whom I was teaching ESL. He said that it was because of me and my class that he wanted to learn and become better at English. I strive to inspire all of my students to want to achieve more through learning, and I hope I can have the opportunity to tutor some great students!
