I am a graduate of the SF Conservatory of Music, and I've taught piano here in the Bay Area for over fifteen years, both privately and at USF, the SF Waldorf High School, and the SF Community Music Center (CMC) in the Mission. I've worked with children as young as four years old and with adults of all ages, and I've been on the faculty of CMC for over seven years. As a performer, I've worked as a Music Director for Musical Theater productions and as a keyboard player with numerous ensembles, including jazz combos, rock bands, and church groups. I love teaching music and sharing my knowledge and skills with students of all ages and backgrounds, and I truly believe that everyone has the capacity to be an accomplished musician. Anyone can become proficient at the piano; it's simply a function of how hard you're willing to work and how much time you spend practicing! I especially enjoy explaining music theory and the logic behind music and composition... how music works is a truly fascinating and inspiring subject, and I love seeing my students make connections and gain an understanding of how it all fits together. I have a very easy-going manner, and I'm an exceptionally patient and encouraging teacher; a positive and fun learning environment is my basis for success.
