Melanie S
New York, NY Tutor
Contact Tutorspree to Schedule editI have experience with both test prep (Regents, SATs, ACTs), and homework help, and very much enjoy working with students one-on-one. I have an MA in Math Ed, and a BS in Applied Mathematics and English (from Teachers College and Columbia University respectively). I currently teach 9th, 10th, and 12th grade math in Downtown Brooklyn, but I live near Union Square and can easily travel to the UES, TriBeCa, and West Village. I have regular professional commitments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but my schedule is relatively flexible for the rest of the week. My rates are $90/hour for basic help, and $150/hour if you want me to design and create individualized lessons for your student (as these take an hour to create, and then an hour to implement, the rate has to be higher!). I also provide email and phone help to all of my clients free of charge (at reasonable times and frequency of course)! Thank you so much!

Jamie B said ... November 29th 2011Melanie is truly a professional tutor. What makes her so wonderful is not just that she is incredibly flexible and accommodating with her time, but she is first and foremost a math teacher-- none of the material is "new" to her and you are not "learning it together," or as she goes along. She is well versed in a broad range of topics in mathematics and already has experience in teaching this curriculum as her profession. She is very patient, but most importantly, she truly understands math and is a great and experienced teacher!
