About Me
Hello there! I am a first year PhD student in developmental cognitive neuroscience and psychology at Columbia University. One of my passions is sharing my knowledge of brain research on learning, attention, and memory, to help people be better, more efficient students and teachers.
I have been teaching and tutoring since 2004 starting as a substitute teacher at a preschool and kindergarten and then continuing as a high school history teacher at Berkeley High School in California. In between teaching I earned master's degrees in social science teaching from UC Santa Cruz, and educational neuroscience from Harvard. Currently, I am TA-ing for an introductory neuroscience class.
The most rewarding part of teaching for me is the opportunity to work with students one-on-one. Whether it's helping a student with a term paper, or a set of difficult math problems, I love the feeling of not only helping him or her learn but also being able to catch a glimpse into his or her unique mind.
I have experience working with children as young as 4 up to adults. If you are looking for a tutor for your child or middle schooler, I can help with reading, math, social studies, and study skills. If you are a high school student, I can help you excel in your history, English, algebra, psychology, and biology classes, or with AP and/or college prep. If you are a college student, I can help you with statistics, psychology, history, expository writing, and/or neuroscience.
