Hi! I am an English major and co-terminal Master's student in English at Stanford University. Since early childhood I have loved to read and write, and one of my primary goals in life is to instill an appreciation for literature and an enthusiasm for writing in others.
I have been a Peer Writing Tutor at Stanford University for over 3 years, and working with my fellow students has been one of my most rewarding college experiences. As a Writing Tutor, I guide my peers through the process of articulating their ideas effectively in their analytical essays, personal statements, research papers, cover letters, and resumes. From helping my students to discover their argument, to aiding them with the final stages of honing their prose, I genuinely love every moment of my job!
During the summer of 2011 I also worked with three high school students to improve their writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis skills. I developed and implemented lesson plans for SAT preparation, assigned essays based on works of poetry and prose, and instructed my students in the development of strong arguments and coherent paragraphs.
Tutoring is an occupation that I plan to continue throughout my life. Helping people discover and develop their own writing voice is one of my most meaningful life accomplishments, and I have a feeling that my experiences as a tutor will guide me towards a career in teaching literature!

Kaitlin is amazing. I had a paper due in three hours and I was at my wits end. I came in with a horrible paper, and I knew it was bad. I just did not know how to fix it. Kaitlin is the most helpful and patient tutor I have encountered at the writing center. My paper was a mess, and she stuck with me. She helped me to talk out what I wanted to say, and we ended up producing something good I could actually be proud to turn in. She saved my grade real talk.

Kaitlin is patient and helpful. She would read over my papers and give me feedback on how to better phrase awkward sentences, and talk me through ideas for writing the conclusion paragraph. She is a knowledgeable and interesting person. I like brainstorming with her and bouncing ideas off each other. She is also very good at catching grammar mistakes.

I hate writing, Kaitlin made it bearable. She knows how to get ideas out of my mind and onto the paper in a coherent and cohesive way. Kaitlin not only helped my writing, she also motivated me to try to write better; without a doubt, I would've gotten a B+ rather than an A- if Kaitlin hadn't encouraged me.

Kaitlin is a great teacher because she is dedicated to each person she works with. I went to the writing center unhappy about my personal statement as I felt it was missing an over arching theme. It just didn't seem put together but I didn't know what it was missing until she helped me realize that I was missing a thesis. She was honest with what she thought I did well and what she thought I didn't do well and she helped me to put together something that eventually evolved into a thesis and g

Kaitlin is an awesome tutor and we are so lucky to have her at the Hume Writing Center. Besides being one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, she is an expert tutor and a dedicated writer in her own right. From watching Kaitlin work with students, taking classes together with her in the English department, and exchanging ideas with her about teaching and writing, I can say with confidence that Kaitlin would be the most sympathetic, supportive, and skillful of tutors to work with.
