I've tutored for approximately 10 years...and I've loved every hour of it. I've also gained some great classroom experience by spending 6 years teaching physics at the New College of California, one school year assisting high school math teachers in Oakland Public Schools, a semester as a teaching assistant for an Intro to Astronomy class at UC Berkeley Extension, and, most recently, teaching an Algebra 2 class in San Francisco City College's College for Teens program. I love helping people better understand challenging material. The main tool I use in teaching is the same thing that got me through college. Cailie said ... August 24th 2011Dear students, if you have any trouble with math I highly recommend Craig A as a tutor. I scheduled a session with Craig before my college math placement exam via tutorspree.com not knowing what to expect, I don't use the internet all that often. I give Craig a 10 out of 10 on all three accounts, not due to laziness or ease but because Craig truly met all of my expectations and then some. When Craig arrived, I didn't know exactly what to ask because I didn't have an understanding of where I was confused with math, but he seemed to know exactly where to begin with me, and he taught with genuine engagement that I am not used to finding in tutors-- Craig really does like math and is good at it! He was extremely accessible, agreeing to meet me at my own house on very short notice and my only regret is that I didn't get to meet with him again before college. The unique thing about Craig's tutoring is that he doesn't only teach you the material but WHY formulas and equations are the way they are, which is exactly what I needed to help me remember all those pesky "rules" of algebra, which Craig doesn't really believe in. I hope when you book Craig you learn as much as I did!
