My name is Ilana, and I'm 30 years old. I graduated from Barnard College with a Bachelor's degree in English and psychology (double major.) I went on to earn a Master's degree in Secondary English Education through the NYC Teaching Fellows Program, and then a Master's of Fine Arts degree in nonfiction writing at Sarah Lawrence College.

Since 2003, I've been teaching grades 9-12 English, including remedial and AP courses. Currently, I am the English "department leader" at our school, and I run our school's AP and SAT prep programs. Outside of school, I tutor private students for SAT's--all three sections--and for other exams; I also work with students both online and in person to complete all aspects of their college applications. (Essays are my specialty.) My private students have been accepted to schools such as Cornell University, Oberlin College, Bowdoin College, Middlebury College, and Boston University.

Besides these activities, I'm an adjunct lecturer to the Lehman College English Department; I have experience teaching both high school and college-level writing, which enables me to help students with homework as well as test prep and pre-college tasks.
