About Me
Hi!I'm Amanda. I am currently working on my PhD in Russian literature at Northwestern University. I consider the most important aspects of my job to be helping others see what I see when I open a book and putting people in touch with their abilities to be creative and think critically. I have experience teaching literature of various national traditions, as well as history and linguistics on the university level. I also run a creative group that involves writing, reading, painting, cooking, and dancing for adolescent male foster children.
Tutoring is a chance to work one-on-one with someone in order to develop exercises custom-fitted to their particular needs. I promise to assess each student's current skill levels and develop an individualized plan to aid the student in reaching his/her goals. I especially relish teaching general writing/composition in this format. My students' success means a lot to me; therefore, I always work hard to be thoughtful about the direction and feedback I give them.
Please drop me a line if you feel I could be of service to you or your student.
