About Me

It's such a shame that my picture hardly conveys much about me--there I am, just a normal looking teenager standing and smiling at the camera. I would've put up a better picture, but it wouldn't have reflected the sense of professionalism that I maintain when I'm tutoring other people. Under day-to-day circumstances I would consider myself an eccentric; I'm a stupendously nerdy guy who has an unhealthy obsession with the beauty that is inherent to math and physics, and I will slowly try to impress that upon my client (or at least make it extremely obvious that I love both of those subjects).
Having spent many hours (well over 40) at my local middle school tutoring 7th and 8th graders, I've built up my teaching abilities to the point where the teacher managing the tutoring program would tell me how much the students liked to see me and have me in the class. I more or less try to model myself after my high school calculus teacher by being down-to-earth, unfailingly friendly, lighthearted, and ready to just have fun and laugh.
When I'm teaching, I also try to be uncompromisingly thorough in explaining concepts and problems; indeed, it is a fear of my own to have a teacher who simply rushes through the steps and expects the student to catch up--there's no fun in that, and the student will only end up frustrated and confused. I like to make sure that more than just the surface is scratched, and I usually explain background concepts as well (i.e. I explain how and why a step occurred, and if necessary, explain the "how and why", and so forth).
My own education: I graduated from Bonita Vista High School with an International Baccalaureate diploma in the early summer of 2011. I don't actually hold a degree, but I'm pursuing a major in Physics, and I hope to transfer to UC Berkeley from Mesa by Fall 2013. From there, my dream is to go on to graduate school, get a doctorate, and become a theoretical physicist and investigate the inner workings of our universe. That's all a long ways off though.
Please, feel free to contact me if you have any questions (even if you aren't actually interested in my services, I won't be offended).
