I'm obsessed with language learning! I've spent thousands of hours as both a teacher/tutor and a foreign language learner myself. And I love tutoring. I love being able to see someone learning and improving right before my eyes. I've taught English for over 10 years. Here's a quick break-down of those years of experience: - graduated from an English Education program in 2001 and earned a teaching license (state of North Carolina). - taught high school English for 2 years, including four Advanced Placement classes preparing students for the A.P. Language and Composition test. - taught English as a foreign language in Japan for three years in middle schools, high schools, adult conversation schools, and also did private tutoring. - run a popular website with free resources for English learners (http://www.phrasemix.com). - spent one semester in graduate school for Linguistics and teaching a high-level pronunciation & speaking class for foreign graduate students. - currently work in the publishing industry at one of the top magazine publishers, but also tutor a steady slate of English language students on evenings and weekends. My tutoring style is extremely adaptive. I prefer to allow the students' needs and interests guide each session. But I can also recommend coursebooks or work with a test prep book if you prefer more structure.
