About Me

I primarily tutor children preparing for their bar/bat mitzvah, but also general Jewish studies to children who prefer the one-to-one of a tutor in lieu of, or as a supplement to, Hebrew School learning. Together with the student and parents, I design a program of study that matches the individual needs of each student. Often this includes: Hebrew reading skills, proficiency in basic prayers, cantelation for Torah and Haftorah, and general knowledge of the Bible and Jewish history, ideas, and holidays. I also tutor adults wishing to acquire more Jewish literacy, be it Hebrew reading skills or Jewish philosophy (note: the combination of parent and child study often proves to be particularly enriching and is also an option). I am an ordained rabbi, a PhD student in Jewish History and Philosophy, and teach adult ed. classes and Hebrew School classes at a large Manhattan Synagogue, in addition to private classes in people's homes. Summers are a great time to learn!
