About Me
I graduated with honors from Northwestern University in 2010 with a degree in history and religious studies and a European concentration. I won a writing award for the best paper in my department and am a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
I am now employed as a curriculum developer and writer for an online textbook and study guide called Shmoop.com. The site includes study content for dozens of standardized tests. In other words, particularly for you AP Euro students out there, I wrote the book!
I am also a freelance journalist, and, like most freelance journalists, I work in a coffee-shop part time. I have ten years of writing and teaching experience as a freelancer and currently work with young people on developing multi-media oral histories in Rogers Park.
On my own time, I play the accordion and walk my elderly dog. I cook lots of vegetarian food and have snailmail penpals. I have done an unusual amount of traveling and adventuring for someone of my age. I speak French, study Latin, and read Arabic--all because I love it. I draw, paint, and make woodcuts. I know a whole lot about a few things and a little about a lot. Hope to hear from you--thanks!
