I come from a French-speaking family and I am currently working towards a PhD in French and Arabic at Columbia University, having graduated from Oxford University with the highest honours, specialising in French and History. I also have a diploma from Sciences-Po in Paris, where I worked on contemporary French politics.

I have been tutoring for over five years (from very young children to adults) and I have been teaching my own French class at Columbia for the past two years. I love helping students get to grips with the language and to really enjoy speaking it and to be creative with it. I like to work closely with my students to tailor my teaching style to their needs, and I always insist on the importance of communication above all.

Elizabeth is very knowledgeable and informative, as well as friendly and pleasant. We've seen an immediate improvement in our daughter's French skills. Highly recommended!

My daughter is tutoring with Elizabeth in preparation for her AP French exam in May. She finds Elizabeth to be engaging and feels she is able to explain complicated grammatical conventions in a logical manner. She is feeling more confident about the exam since working with Elizabeth and is looking forward to additional sessions with her prior to the exam.

We're quite happy with Elizabeth; I only wish I found her sooner.

Liz is a gem! She's high energy, brilliant, and has an unparalleled zest for life. French isn't an easy language to master, but I have complete confidence that Liz will help you improve.
