About Me

Hello! My name is Stephanie Skiba and I currently teach third grade at a public school in the Bronx. I have been teaching third grade for three years and taught fifth grade for one year. I am also an alumna of Teach for America. I regularly teach Math and ELA test prep during a 3rd grade after-school program and have significant experience teaching 5th grade ELA and Math test prep, and 4th grade Science test prep. I am currently enrolled in Columbia University's "Summer Principals Academy" at Teachers College, to receive my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Administration in July 2012. I also hold a Masters in Elementary Education from Pace University and a Bachelors degree in both Political Science and History from Binghamton University. I spent my sophomore year at Oxford University in England studying History and Politics. I spent my 2010 summer in Mexico on a Fulbright-Hays scholarship. My time was used to prepare a unit of study on Mexico accessible to all teachers nationwide via the U.S. Department of Education. I am available to tutor your elementary-level student in all subjects, including Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, basic Spanish, and Enrichment. I am willing to travel to most areas of Queens and Nassau County.

Setphanie tutored my child for approximately two months prior to the 6th grade 2011 NYS Math exam. She was punctual, spent more time than booked and was prepared with materials necessary for the childs success. My child was very comfortable working with Stephanie. The state test noted that my childs scale score was raised (30) points higher than her previous state exam! I highly recommend her as respects tutoring in math.
