About Me
I tutor with a relaxed, friendly, up beat approach, while still setting challenging goals. For young children I usually focus on phonics, reading and writing to set the stage for their future academic success. For middle school students, the focus is often a combination of general homework help and a focus on those 'trouble' subjects. At this age, it is also important for them to develop good study habits, so we also work on time management and prioritizing assignments. My work with high school students often centers on specific subjects. My specialty in this age group is English (including literature and writing - both creative and essay), History and test prep (ACT/SAT). I also work with ESL (English as a Second Language) students, who are primarily adults (although I do have some younger ESL students) looking to improve their pronunciation/accent, vocabulary, reading, writing, knowledge of slang and idioms, and general conversational and communication.
