About Me
My strengths are philosophy, critical thinking, logic, and writing/english, with 7+ years of tutoring experience.
I studied philosophy and education from 2005 to 2011, holding a B.A. magna cum laude in philosophy and more recently completing doctoral-level coursework at Columbia University's Teachers College.
I have taught college philosophy both as a teaching assistant and as an independent instructor, including courses in ethics, biomedical ethics, and critical thinking. I was a volunteer with Columbia University's Philosophy Outreach program, instructing 8th and 9th graders in philosophy and ethics at the innovative Columbia Secondary School. In 2011, I was certified as a substitute teacher by the New York City Department of Education.
I also tutor through the company I own and founded, Cognitive Catering, LLC. Its mission is to promote the development of critical thinking and philosophy skills in pre-college students.
When I take a break from tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my two shelter dogs, chihuahua mixes named Chip and Ringo. I also read widely in economics, psychology, and politics (in addition to philosophy and education). I blog for the Huffington Post, contributing pieces at the intersection of education, philosophy, and policy.
