About Me

I graduated from Molloy College in December, with a 4.0 GPA and my Masters of Science in TESOL and Elementary Education. Over the past two years, I have worked with elementary aged students in a variety of different settings. Currently I am completing a six-week leave replacement in second grade at a public school in Queens. Prior to that, I completed an eight-week leave replacement PreK. This fall, I student taught third grade and ESL grades 1-6 at Wheeler Ave. Elementary in Valley Stream. From student teaching, I have gained experience in lesson planning and delivery, classroom management techniques, and assessment. During the 2010 - 2011 school year I worked as a Teaching Assistant in first grade at Lido Elementary in Long Beach. There I was responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with daily lesson planning and execution, small group reading and math workshops, assessments, classroom management, and homework collection and distribution. I also volunteered after school at Northern Parkway Elementary in Uniondale as a Targeted Tutor in their Learning Academy for at risk bilingual students in third grade. This past summer, I worked as a Mentor at Molloy College's Rising Star Summer Camp. As a Mentor, I was responsible for an assigned group of three fourth grade boys to whom I provided academic support and recreational activities as directed. Over the past two years, I have worked with high school, middle school, and elementary school aged English Language Learners from a variety of native languages, including Polish, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu, Mandarin, and Turkish. I have worked with beginner level students who required basic communication skills, as well as advanced students who needed assistance with high-level grammar, idioms and sentence structure.

I also work as a reading tutor to both a second and sixth grader who are below their respective reading levels. In this role, I develop and implement reading lesson plans for weekly one-hour tutoring sessions.

Previously I have worked as a tutor to two ESL students (1st and 3rd grade) at West End Elementary in Lynbrook. I was also the Lead Teacher in the Toddler Room at Tutor Time of East Rockaway. There I was responsible for planning a daily program for children between 15-18 months that encouraged the children's emotional, social, cognitive and physical development.

My philosophy of learning is that I believe it is the teacher's responsibility to provide an environment that is secure, caring, and motivating. As a tutor I will share my passion for lifelong learning with my students. Teachers have the ultimate power and responsibility to help children to reach their full potential intellectually, emotionally and psychologically. As a Tutor I will work hard to support the student in any way possible and to provide a positive learning environment for him or her to succeed academically.
