I am Jessica, and I am a tutor with over 10 years professional teaching experience. I am a first grade teacher and I have been tutoring for almost 13 years, since I was an Education major in college.

I now specialize in early childhood literacy, and can help your child learn how to read and write in a relaxed, nurturing environment. I make learning to read FUN! Through a myriad of lessons, including some exciting but educational games, your child will learn phoenemic awareness but most importantly, learn to LOVE reading! While literacy is my specialty, I also tutor in math. I have experience with children from birth through grade 8.

One of my strengths as an educator is my flexibility and ability to find the best way for the child to learn. When a child is struggling to learn something new, be it tapping out letter sounds during Fundation drills, or learning to tell time, I don’t think “What are they doing wrong?” I find it much more effective to reflect on what I am doing wrong. What can I do to help him learn the lesson? I have found that this strategy works wonders!

I am an advocate for children, whether they are on the spectrum or typically developing. I am constantly searching for ways to improve myself by attending conferences, downloading the latest children’s music, and taking various classes.
