History

Cape Coral, Florida, is a waterfront city located on the Gulf of Mexico. This rapidly growing community, incorporated in 1970, exploded to a population of 154,305 by 2010. Cape Coral's quick growth is credited to the area's natural beauty and the enterprising spirit of its early founders. Two brothers purchased the land in 1958. They planned and developed it, creating more then 400 miles of canals in the process. A sandy beach, plenty of sunshine, and a fishing pier on the Caloosahatchee River are some of the area's draws. The city also boasts a Historical Museum, Art Studio, and Cultural Park Theatre that serves as a venue for local actors. The city was originally home to many retirees, but the 90s brought young families and professionals to the area.
