History

Corona was founded in 1886 during the citrus boom in Southern California. Approximately 45 miles southeast of Los Angeles in Riverside County, Corona is a diverse community of young, well-educated families. Once primarily an agricultural community, the city began to attract developers and industry during the 90s, and today it's considered a major suburb of Los Angeles. Some of the city's largest employers included Watson Pharmaceuticals and the Corona Regional Medical Center. The city has more then 394 acres of parks with sports fields, skate parks and an outdoor pool. A vibrant farmers market operates year-round. A recreational airport is operated by the city. Corona continues to grow and energetically expand its industrial base and office development. The city's street grid is enclosed by Grand Avenue, which circumnavigates the city and is credited with the city's moniker, The Circle City. The Corona Public Library is housed in a 62,000-square-foot building and offers extensive programming, including art classes, a children's hours, Wi-Fi, and a job resource center.
