History

Founded in 1913 as a community of primarily citrus orchards and chicken ranches, Fontana grew up fast. It was a historic site for drag races at the Mickey Thompson International Speedway adjacent to historical Route 66, and is currently a trucking industry giant and a center for the arts in Southern California. It is still on the NHRA circuit, but with a new drag strip, and is also home to many medical, industrial, and manufacturing companies.
