History

Gilbert is a young, affluent community in central Arizona. Incorporated on July 6, 1920, Gilbert is a relatively new community that has seen tremendous growth during the past two decades. Recognized as the 36th Best Place to Live as well as one of America's best places to live and learn, Gilbert has grown at astronomical speeds. With just over 5,000 residents in 1980, Gilbert now has over 208,000 residents, many of which hold high-wage jobs in life science, health services, high technology, clean and renewable energy, and corporate and regional headquarters/offices in advanced business services.
