History

Grand Prairie, Texas, so named by the T&P Railroad, incorporated in 1909. The city, located in Dallas County, became a leader in the aerospace industry, hosting such companies as Vought Aircraft Industries, Bell Helicopter, and Lockheed Martin. But Grand Prairie doesn't always keep its head in the clouds. The city is also home to the state of the art Verizon Theater, the historic Uptown Theater, and Lone Star Park, a horse racing facility.
